You’ll learn how to compose dynamic shots that balance geometry, motion, and atmosphere, capturing both the energy of travelers and the quiet elegance of the space. As the light shifts through the day, we’ll move from the bustling concourse to the outdoor courtyards, ending with dusk shots that showcase the station’s glowing façade against the evening sky—a perfect blend of urban history and photographic artistry.
Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanical Gardens – November 8
Learn to capture the beauty of the natural world at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden. This workshop will teach you the basics of landscape photography, including composition, exposure, and focus. You will also learn how to use your camera’s settings to capture stunning images of the plants, flowers, and trees at the Arboretum. The workshop is limited to 8 participants.
Los Angeles Night Crawl – March 21
When the sun goes down, the cameras come out. Photograph the City of Angels in its night-time glory. Capture Disney Concert Hall, Grand Park Fountains, The Financial District, and more. You will be directed to the best camera locations along the way. There will be a fair amount of walking, so bring comfortable shoes.
Griffith Observatory Sunset Shoot – December 20
No matter the season, time of day, indoors or outdoors, the photo ops at the Griffith Observatory are limitless. The interiors transport one to another dimension and your instructor will help you capture this other-world sensibility. Learn to create an Escher-esque abstraction from a patterns found on the floor and walls or, with the help of the DPA instructor, capture a compelling image emanating from a leading lines effect.
