San Pedro Lighthouse & Korean Bell – March 25
Beginning at Point Fermin, you’ll see the historic lighthouse as well as breathtaking coastal views. Bring your telephoto lens as you may also see peregrine falcon or a fox. Next, after a short walk, the Korean Bell of Friendship is one of the most photographed locations in Los Angeles. Explore the angles and shadows to unlock your creativity.
Please be sure to arrive 10-15 minutes early. Class will begin promptly.
Venice Beach – October 18
Strolling along Venice Beach, you can encounter local artists selling their paintings, skateboarders practicing new moves, and musclemen showing off their guns. Join your DPA instructor to photograph and enjoy the thrills and intriguing characters that Venice Beach has to offer. Shooting in such a diverse area full of nature and culture creates a host of possibilities to create breath-taking images. As you photograph alongside a professional photographer, they will share new techniques to capture skateboarders in motion, accentuate the colors of the water, and find new angles to experiment with street photography.
Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanical Gardens – November 8
Learn to capture the beauty of the natural world at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden. This workshop will teach you the basics of landscape photography, including composition, exposure, and focus. You will also learn how to use your camera’s settings to capture stunning images of the plants, flowers, and trees at the Arboretum. The workshop is limited to 8 participants.
San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary – July 26
Rise and shine for a peaceful summer morning Photowalk at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary, when soft light, quiet trails, and active wildlife offer the perfect setting to sharpen your photography skills. Guided by Scott Crawford, you’ll explore how to work with natural light at golden hour, refine your composition techniques, and learn how to approach wildlife photography ethically and effectively.
