The Santa Monica Pier is home to a world of entertainment, from carousel rides to shopping to arcades. But it is also an amazing place for photographers to experiment, sharpen their skills, and capture beautiful evening photographs. Join your Digital Photo Academy instructor to photograph the sunset over the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Monica Pier at sunset. You should bring your DSLR or another type of camera that you use, a fully-charged battery, and the equipment that you can carry. It would be helpful to bring a tripod if you have one to utilize long exposures, though you will also learn other means to steady your camera without a tripod.
Griffith Observatory Sunset Shoot – December 20
No matter the season, time of day, indoors or outdoors, the photo ops at the Griffith Observatory are limitless. The interiors transport one to another dimension and your instructor will help you capture this other-world sensibility. Learn to create an Escher-esque abstraction from a patterns found on the floor and walls or, with the help of the DPA instructor, capture a compelling image emanating from a leading lines effect.
